Star Wars Phone Case Kitbash

By popular demand, here's a video tutorial showing how I built a Star Wars themed, Boba Fett inspired, phone case. I hope you find this helpful and good luck with your kitbashing!

If you have any questions or suggestions, the Geeks would be happy to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to drop a comment below, or on our Youtube, Facebook or Twitter.

Project materials list:

  • Basic plastic phone case

  • Styrene Sheets

  • X-acto knife, or similar

  • E6000, Weld-on 3, or similar plastic adhesive

  • Toothpicks or wooden skewers

  • Wires or paperclips (optional detail)

  • Plastic model kit (optional detail)

  • Enamel paints (optional detail)

  • Spray paint with primer

  • Spray clear coat

These are the pre-painted cases next to my original design sketches. I deviated quite a bit from the original vision, as you can see.

These are the final results after priming, painting and clear-coating. Each case took around 3-4 hours to complete. But I had never worked with styrene sheets, nor tried kitbashing before. So I took my time to get comfortable. If you have experience with these materials and are willing to use a fast-setting adhesive, you can probably complete one of these cases in just a couple of hours.

If you give this technique a try, please share your results! Happy kitbashing!
